Traffic diversion for idol immersion procession

COIMBATORE, SEPT. 19 . In view of the vinayakar idol immersion procession here, the city police have announced traffic diversion at many places for three to four hours from 3 p.m. tomorrow.

The diversion at each junction would last for hardly 20 minutes, a release from the city police said.

The immersion procession would begin from V.K.K. Menon Road in Gandhipuram and would go via Avarampalayam Road, Women's Polytechnic Junction, Bharathiar Road, Lakshmi Mills Junction, Puliakulam Road, Pankaja Mill Road Junction, Ramanathapuram - Tiruchi Road to reach the Singanallur tank for immersion.

When the procession begins at 3 p.m. on V.K.K. Menon Road, the traffic on this stretch would be diverted via Chinnasamy Naidu Street, Pazhayur, Bharathiar Road and Balasundaram Road to reach Avanashi Road.

When the procession reaches Scheme Road, vehicles from Lakshmi Mills Junction proceeding towards Pazhayur should take Avanashi Road, LIC Junction to reach Gandhipuram.

Heavy vehicles on Avanashi Road would be diverted via Kamarajar Road, Singanallur and Tiruchi Road. Light Motor Vehicles on Avanashi Road would be diverted via SNR Junction, Sowripalayam Road and Balaji Nagar.

Bound for Peelamedu

Vehicles bound for Peelamedu from Avanashi Road, Lakshmi Mills Junction would have to take the Circuit House Road, Sungam Junction and then proceed on Tiruchi Road.

When the procession winds its way on Puliakulam Road, vehicles from Ramanathapuram Junction and Puliakulam should go via Sungam Junction to reach the city.

Final leg

When the procession enters the final leg on Tiruchi Road, vehicles bound for the city would be diverted at Singanallur via Kamarajar Road and Avanashi Road and vehicles from the city towards Palladam would be diverted via Sungam, Kamarajar Road to reach Avanashi Road.

When the procession reaches Singanallur tank, traffic on Tiruchi Road would be diverted at Venkatalakshmi Marriage Hall via Uppilipalayam.

The police have sought the cooperation of the public.
