MADURAI, SEPT. 19. The Madurai Corporation Retired Teachers Welfare Association has decided to petition the President, the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister and the Local Administration Minister to press its demands. The resolution was adopted at a meeting of the executive committee, held here recently. In a statement, the president, P.M. Selvaraj, said a petition seeking disbursal of the arrears of the Provident Fund interest, remittance of the fund collected towards the family pension scheme and the Employees Social Insurance Scheme to the government account, issue of PF slips at the end of every year and submission of pension proposals to the office of the Auditor General was submitted to the Corporation. Since, there was no response till September 5, the association members observed a fast on September 6. However, even after this, the Corporation did not respond and hence, the executive committee decided to send petitions to the top officials to seek their intervention, he said.
