MADURAI, SEPT. 19. The Ministry of Science and Technology has been implementing several schemes to provide financial support for conducting scientific symposia and for publication of research works, according to Laxman Prasad, Adviser, Ministry of Science and Technology. He was speaking after inaugurating an exhibition-cum-seminar organised here on Friday by the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology, along with the American College. He stressed the need for providing financial support to the aspiring scientists, in a bid to give an impetus to the country's development. In his address, SM. Ramasamy, Director, Centre for Remote Sensing, Bharathidasan University, said nationalising and interlinking of all rivers would not be so easy, unless young scientists took the lead in hitting upon a feasible scheme. He wanted every student to understand that any research work or project should facilitate progress. T. Dhanapal, Senior Scientific Officer, TNSCST, D. Samuel Sudanandha, Principal, the American College, and Perumal, Officer (in charge), TNSCST, took part in the function.
