CHENNAI. SEPT. 19. Heavy showers in the morning and afternoon, punctuated by thunder, left many parts of the city waterlogged today. The suburbs received a rainfall of 42.2 millimetres. Normal life, however, was largely unaffected as it was a Sunday. The neighbourhoods around Adyar, Besant Nagar and Thiruvanmiyur seemed to be the most affected with residents complaining of waterlogging. Traffic was thrown out of gear for an hour when the downpour was at its heaviest. In spite of the threatening thunder, the rain subsided by late afternoon.
