Partly cloudy

CHENNAI, SEPT. 19. The sky will be partly cloudy on Monday with the possibility of shower or thundershower in some areas during evening or night.

On Sunday, Numgambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 35.7 and a minimum of 24.5 degrees Celsius. Meenambakkam recorded a maximum of 35.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25.4.

While Numgambakkam recorded a rainfall of 27.0 mm, in Meenambakkam it was 42.2 mm.

Humidity was 97 and 92 per cent.

Peace day

September 21 is observed by the United Nations as the International Day of Peace. Groups and individuals around the world will pray for world peace on Tuesday. Spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi has appealed to the people to observe one-minute silence at noon.

College festival

The visual communication department of the Madras Christian College is conducting a two-day inter-collegiate competition, `Aathmann 2004,' which begins today. Around 15 colleges are expected to participate in the event.

Medical camp

Nearly 260 persons were treated at a medical camp at Vallalar Nagar, Madambakkam yesterday, organised by the Hindu Mission Hospital.
