PMT paper leak accused surrenders

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 19. Sudhir Sachdeva, the chairman of New PT Sachdeva College, who was on the run after being charged for involvement in the All India Pre-Medical Test (PMT) paper leak case this April, surrendered before a Karkardooma court this past Saturday. He was sent to two-day police custody.

It is learnt that after the court initiated proceedings against Sachdeva for attaching his property owing to his non-appearance, he moved an application asking permission to surrender. After he surrendered in the court, the police sought his custody for the recovery of a compact disc containing 50 PMT Entrance questions that was allegedly bought by Sachdeva and his manager, N.K. Thaplu, from a Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) employee, Hemant.

After the racket was smashed by the Crime Branch on April 10, the CBSE had cancelled the entrance test that was to be conducted a day after. While the police had arrested 12 people in the case, Sachdeva had been evading arrest and had earlier obtained a stay from an Orissa court.
