Partly cloudy day ahead

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, SEPT. 19.SEPT. 19.SE The weatherman has forecast a partly cloudy sky for the Capital on Monday.

The maximum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung and Palam on Sunday were 34.9 degrees Celsius and 35.9 degrees Celsius respectively, while the minimum temperatures stood at 26.2 degrees Celsius and 26.3 degrees Celsius.

The maximum relative humidity recorded at Safdarjung was 86 per cent and the minimum relative humidity was 53 per cent. At Palam, the maximum relative humidity was 89 per cent and the minimum relative humidity was 49 per cent.

Man killed

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, SEPT. 19.SEPT. 19.SE Two young men allegedly travelling without tickets jumped off a speeding passenger train to avoid being caught by the ticket checker at Holambi Kalan in North-West Delhi today. One of them hit a poll and died on the spot, while the other has been admitted to Sushrut Trauma Centre.

The police said checking was going on in the ES-II Delhi-Sonepat passenger train when two young men jumped off to avoid being caught. One of them, later identified as Shiv Pal, hit a poll before landing on the ground. He died instantly, while the other, Latoori Singh, sustained head injuries.

Guard dies

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, SEPT. 19.SEPT. 19.SE A 28-year-old security guard, who was allegedly stabbed by his fellow security guard deployed at the residence of a Brazilian diplomat at New Friends Colony in South Delhi on Saturday night, succumbed to his injuries at Apollo Hospital today.

The deceased was identified Manish, a native of Bihar. The police said he was assaulted by another security guard, Sudhir, with a kitchen knife following an altercation.

Found dead

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, SEPT. 19.SEPT. 19.SE A 20 year-old housewife was found dead with strangulation marks on her neck in her house in North-East district today. Afsana, wife of a scrap-dealer, Mohammad Akhalaq, had moved into the rented accommodation at L-Block in Welcome Colony along with her husband about a week ago. Her landlady, who found Afsana's body, intimated the police about the incident. Akhalaq, who is absconding, is the prime suspect in the murder, police said.

Guard held

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, SEPT. 19.SEPT. 19.SE A guard posted outside the residence of the daughter-in-law of the Deputy Inspector General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, S.P. Nair, has been arrested by the police for allegedly misbehaving with her. The incident reported occurred today outside her Khirki Extension residence in South Delhi. Earlier, the victim had lodged a complaint against the ITBP guard, Dara Singh, following which he was arrested.
