Partly cloudy sky forecast

A partly cloudy sky with rain or thundershowers likely in parts of city has been forecast for Monday. The maximum temperature recorded on Sunday was 34 degree Celsius and minimum temperature was 22.5 degree Celsius. With 54 per cent relative humidity, traces of rainfall were recorded till 8.30 p.m.

Seminar on

IIT-JEE held

An interactive seminar on IIT-JEE by Abhay Kumar Singh was organised by Narayana Educational Society here on Sunday. Prof. Singh delivered the keynote address and clarified doubts in physics, according to a press release.

Essay contest

on heritage

An essay and slogan writing competition on heritage was organised by the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) Hyderabad Chapter and an English daily here on Sunday. Students from 23 schools participated. Best eight essays and slogans will be selected for the State-level competition.

Short-term courses

The Advanced Training Institute for Electronics and Process Instrumentation under the Ministry of Labour has invited applications for the following short-term courses: repair and maintenance of five-in-one (tape recorder, ACD, VCD, AM/FM/MP3) systems; and digital videography (mixing and editing) camera from September 27 to October 8. Early

intervention unit

The International Day of the Deaf was celebrated by the Helen Keller Institute on its premises on Sunday. The Siddipet MP, S. Satyanarayana, inaugurated an early intervention unit at the institute, according to a press release.

Retreat programme

The Agriculture Minister, N. Raghuveera Reddy, inaugurated a retreat programme for scientists and engineers organised by the Prajapita Brahmakumaris Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya at Shanti Sarovar here on Sunday. The programme on stress management was attended by nearly 200 scientists and engineers from the city, according to a press release. Rajyogini Preetam Behenji, founding member of Brahmakumaris in the city, was present.

Importance of scriptures

The Sree Chaitanya Gaudiya Math president, Acharya Srila Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Goswami Maharaj, on Sunday emphasised on the need to read holy scriptures for mind control. He was speaking at the birth centennial celebrations of the math.

Elected honorary chairman

T. Stanley Babu, General Manager, South Central Railway, has been elected honorary chairman of the United Christmas Celebrations Committee-2004, according to a press release. This year Christmas celebrations will be held at Lalita Kala Thoranam.
