ANANTAPUR, SEPT. 20. A criminal case has been registered against the TDP legislator from Penukonda, Paritala Ravindra, and eight others on the missing of a Congress activist and a close associate of G. Suryanarayana Reddy alias Suri of Maddelacheruvu, who is undergoing imprisonment in the Jubilee Hill car bomb blast case. According to police sources, one Kummari Suri of the Kadiri Gate area in Dharmavaram has been missing since 2001. His mother, Ramulamma, lodged a complaint with the Chennekothapalli police station recently alleging that nine TDP men, including Mr. Ravindra, had kidnapped her son in 2001.
Arrest likely?
The booking of the case also assumes significance amidst the speculation that it is a prelude to invoke the Preventive Detention Act against Mr. Ravindra. It is also being speculated that that one more criminal case is likely to be registered against Mr. Ravindra paving the way for his arrest by invoking PD Act against him.
