India downs Sri Lanka

BANGALORE, SEPT 20. India carried too many guns for Sri Lanka as the Middle Asia Zone qualifying basketball tournament got underway at the SAI South Centre here on Monday. With Riyazuddin and speedy Sambaji Kadam in fine shooting nick India overwhelmed the Lankans 115-78, after leading 66-40 at half-time.

Afghanistan is the third team in the fray.

The result: India 115 (Riyazuddin 27, Sambaji Kadam 27, Subas Shenoy 16) bt Sri Lanka 78 (Asanga 16, Heshan 13, Pasika 13, Duke 11)(Ht: 66-40).
