NEW DELHI, SEPT. 20. A Delhi court today refused to extend the police remand of Sudheer Sachdeva, chairman of the Sachdeva New P.T. College here, in the case of leak of the question papers of the Central Board of Secondary Education-conducted (CBSE) All-India Pre-Medical Test this past April, saying that the accused had been cooperating in the investigation. Counsel for the Delhi police, Subhash Chauhan, sought extension of the accused's police remand submitting that he required to be further queried on several counts of the case, but the Metropolitan Magistrate (MM), Dr. Shahbuddin, rejected his plea. Later, the MM remanded Sachdeva to judicial custody. The MM in his order stated that the accused had earlier appeared before the city police six times and promised to co-operative in the probe as and when called. Sachdeva had surrendered before the MM court on Saturday following rejection of his anticipatory bail by the Delhi High Court. Sachdeva was first questioned in July by the Economic Offences Wing of the city police in connection with the case when he appeared before it after grant of anticipatory bail by the Orissa High Court. His alleged involvement in the case came to light after the Crime Branch arrested Hemant Sharma, an employee of the Confidential Branch of the CBSE, for allegedly leaking the papers and the coaching institute's administrative manager, N.K. Thaplu, for purchasing them.
