NEW DELHI, SEPT. 20. The Uttar Pradesh Government's offer of a separate housing scheme for Muslims of Ayodhya has drawn flak from the All-India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat. "The scheme is designed to take Muslims out of Ayodhya and thus erase all signs of their contribution," said the AIMMM president, Syed Shabuddin, in a statement today. Mr. Shahbuddin came down heavily on the U.P. Government's proposal describing it as an attempt at ghettoisation. "A town for Muslims in search of shelter is the other face of apartheid and nothing but ghettoisation." The U.P. Government has promised to set up a housing colony, Aman Nagar, to be developed by the Faizabad Development Authority, 4 km from Ayodhya. The authority is planning to build 3,000 housing units on a 5-acre plot, which will be offered on attractive terms to Muslims.
