Rain likely

Forecast: A few spells of rain or thundershowers. At Waltair, the maximum temperature was 28.8 deg. C and the minimum was 26.0 deg. C respectively on Monday. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 82 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 92 per cent. Rainfall up to 8.30 p.m. was 10.5 mm. At Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 29.8 deg. C and 26.0 deg. C respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 83 per cent and at 8.30 p.m. was 83 per cent.

The maximum and minimum temperatures at the Dolphin's Nose were 27.7 deg. C and 24.1 deg. C respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 86 per cent.

Talk on foreign policy

The former Vice-Chancellor of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University, R. V. R. Chandrasekhara Rao, will deliver a lecture on `UPA Government's foreign policy' under the auspices of the Centre for Policy Studies at the Builders Association Hall in Hotel Tycoon complex, on Tuesday.

Seminar on ageing

SPACE, a home for destitute women, and Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority are arranging a seminar on `National policy on ageing', in the Art Gallery atop Kailasagiri on October 1. To enable senior citizens to attend the seminar, free transport is arranged, the SPACE's managing trustee, S. Bhujanga Rao, said in a statement. Centenarians will also be felicitated on the occasion. Dena Bank offer

The public sector Dena Bank is offering free ATM debit card and free accident insurance worth Rs. 1 lakh for all its customers holding savings bank or current account. Announcing this at a meeting in the branch premises recently, the senior manager, B. S. Basavaraja, said the Vizag branch had been rated the best in housekeeping and customer service.

Health camp

The free 14-day Satya Gnana Samadhi Yoga camp, organised by Rishi Vaidya Kendra for relief from blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, migraine, sinusitis, stomach disorders, back pain, spondylitis, etc., began on Sunday at Ram's Plaza in Dwarakanagar second lane. Music contest

Sri Vijaya Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha will conduct the State-level classical music competitions in vocal, veena, violin and mridangam, at Sankara Matham on October 9 and 10. They will be in two categories for boys and girls in the age groups of 10-17 and 18-25. Even graded artistes in those age groups can participate.
