Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT. 20. As many as 48 persons were injured when a private bus overturned near the Sivagiri bridge in the Varkala police station limits this afternoon. The police said the bus was overloaded and was speeding when its axle broke causing it to overturn at around 2-30 p.m. Local people rushed the accident victims to the hospital. Most of the injured were admitted to the Varkala Mission Hospital and the Varkala Nursing Home. Some of them were admitted to the Medical College Hospital here.
Fisherman killed
A 50-year-old fisherman was killed when his boat capsized off the coast of Shangumugham today. The police identified the deceased as Andrews of Valiyathura.
Found dead
Remani (40), wife of the Intelligence Bureau (Joint Director), Jayaram, was found dead at his official quarters in Indira Vihar here today. The Museum police said it was suspected to be a case of suicide.
