ERODE, SEPT.21. Eleven panchayat councillors have been elected unopposed for Anjanure, Anjure, Desipalayam, Diginarai, Elumathur, Gangapuram, Ottapalayam, Navakadu, Navanari, Panayampalli and Varapalayam panchayats in Erode district. The elections would be held for 22 panchayats. No nomination was filed for the Kumarayanaure panchayat. Meanwhile, the Government has cancelled the elections in five panchayats of Chennimalai, Jambai, Kasipalayam, Kilambadi and Kolathupalayam panchayats, as these were included in the Panchayat Unions. Fifteen candidates have filed their nominations for the Alukuli, Guthiyalathur, Ikkarai Negamam, Periyapuliyur and Sadamyampalayam panchayats. The election would be held on September 27.
