Thulasi takes a triple

KOZHIKODE, SEPT. 21 . P.C. Thulasi of Thrissur won two singles titles and a doubles crown to emerge as the star of the State sub-junior badminton championship, which concluded at the V.K. Krishna Menon Indoor Stadium here on Tuesday.

She took both the singles and doubles titles in the under-13 section, before shocking the top seed M. Sruthi of host Kozhikode 11-7, 11-6 in the under-16 singles final.

Boys Under-16 (final): Ram C. Vijay (Kzde) bt Arun Vishnu (Kzde) 15-9, 15-11. Semifinals: Ram bt Dileep T. Jacob (Ekm) 13-15, 15-9, 15-1; Arun bt Neeraj Rahman (Kzde) 15-11, 15-9. Doubles (final): Ram C. Vijay & Arun Vishnu (Kzde) bt Akhil M. Rashid & Mithilesh Sundar (Kzde) 15-10, 15-6.

Under-13 (final): H.S. Pranoy (Tvm) bt Muraleekrishnan (Tvm) 15-6, 15-8. Doubles (final): H.S. Pranoy (Tvm) & Mithun Haridas (Tsr) bt S. Sunid (Kzde) & Muraleekrishnan (Tvm) 15-10, 15-7.

Girls Under-16 (final): P.C. Thulasi (Tsr) bt M. Sruthi (Kzde) 11-7, 11-6. Semifinals: Thulasi bt Megha Merin Ninan (Ekm) 11-8, 3-11, 11-5; Sruthi bt S. Sindhu (Kzde) 11-5, 11-1. Doubles (final): M. Sruthi & S. Sindhu (Kzde) bt P.C. Thulasi (Tsr) & Megha Merin Ninan (Ekm) 15-3, 15-8.

Under-13 (final): P.C. Thulasi (Tsr) bt Daya Elsa Jacob (Ekm) 11-3, 11-0. Semifinals: Thulasi bt S. Renjini (Alp) 11-0, 11-1; Daya bt P.S. Linimol (Ekm) 11-1, 11-6. Doubles (final): P.C. Thulasi (Tsr) & P.S. Linimol (Ekm) bt K. Anoosha (Kzde) bt Neha Narendran (Tvm) 15-2, 15-3.
