NEW DELHI, SEPT. 21. The Narcotics Branch of the Delhi police has seized over 5 kg heroin during operations conducted in the past few days. Five people have been arrested in this connection. In the first case, the police received a tip-off that a drug trafficker would come near St. Stephen's Hospital at Tis Hazari to deliver a heroin consignment to his client. Accordingly, they laid a trap and arrested the suspect, who was later identified as Gautam, a resident of Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh. The police recovered 2.5 kg heroin from his possession. On Monday, the police arrested Suresh, a resident of Chittorgarh in Rajasthan, from near Sarai Kale Khan in South Delhi on charges of carrying 2 kg heroin. During interrogation, he revealed that he was into heroin manufacturing for the past four years and had come to Delhi to deliver heroin to his clients, Allauddin, a resident of Seelampur, and Rajrani, a resident of Inderpuri. Efforts are on to trace the duo. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Narcotics Branch), D.L. Kashyap, two more persons, Vijay and Vinod, were arrested at Shahdara in North-East Delhi while they were on their way to deliver a consignment of 500 gm heroin. In yet another case reported on Monday, the police arrested Inderpal, a resident of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly carrying 450 gm heroin. At his instance, a police team has been sent to Bareilly to arrest the heroin supplier.
