Another cloudy day ahead
The maximum and minimum temperature recorded on Tuesday at Safdarjung was 33.5 degrees Celsius and 26.4 degrees Celsius respectively. At Palam, the maximum and minimum temperature recorded was 34.0 degrees Celsius and 25.8 degrees Celsius. The maximum humidity at Safdarjung and Palam was 80 per cent and 92 per cent respectively. While the minimum humidity at Safdarjung and Palam was 61 percent and 60 per cent respectively.
Cong. nominees for by-polls
The seats fell vacant after the party candidates -- Ajay Maken and Krishna Tirath -- contested the Lok Sabha polls and won from the New Delhi and Karol Bagh constituencies respectively. While Mr. Lamba is considered a Maken loyalist, Mr. Lilothia is the president of the Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress.
`Black day'
According to the protesting employees, the Government has paid little attention to their demands forcing them to take the extreme step. The employee who have been agitating for a long time now, had in February last year submitted their charter of demands to the Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Director General of Health Services and they claim that now even after series of reminders, demonstrations and dharna in August this year, "things have not moved forward".
Airport drive
The CISF said of the 13 drivers apprehended by it, seven were let off with a fine while six were challaned by the Traffic Police. Likewise, of the six wrongly parked vehicles three each were fined by the Airport Manager and the Traffic Police. During the day, 12 unattended baggages were also detected in various parts of the airport of which five were restored to the passengers while the remaining seven were deposited with the Airport Manager so that they can be conveniently claimed by their owners.
MCD drive
Also, six residential buildings being used for commercial purposes were sealed. On Monday three such buildings were sealed. In all, the MCD has identified 62 such buildings for sealing. Senior MCD officials said they were unable to take action against more buildings today due to non-availability of the police force.
