Samsung targets non-metros
NEW DELHI: Eying higher market share in hard disk drive category, Samsung India Electronics on Wednesday announced that it is extending service centres for storage media device to 60 cities. The extension of service centres coupled with warranty extension of five years from one year now will boost our market share further, the Samsung India Vice-President, Vivek Prakash, told a news conference.
The company already has the largest market share (43 per cent) in the HDD segment. The extension of service centres would also help it penetrate non-metro cities, which are growing at a faster rate, he said. It also plans to launch personal video recorders (PVRs) here within the next couple of months and grow in the non-personal computer segment.
