Workshop on community policing

KOLLAM, SEPT. 22. A two-day workshop on ``community policing'' organised by the National Service Scheme (NSS) will be inaugurated by the District Collector, B. Sreenivas, here on September 25.

The Superintendent of Police, Kollam, S. Sreejith, will deliver the keynote address at the inaugural function.

At a press conference here today, the Circle Inspector of the Kollam East police station, R. Raj Kumar, said the workshop would be organised in association with the Kollam district police.

The workshop will begin with a discussion on ``Role of youth in community policing''. The Crime Detachment Dy.SP, K. Kailasnath, and C.D. Suresh from the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, would address the function.

A seminar on ``Atrocities against the socially-backward classes'' would be addressed by the Kerala and Lakshadweep head of the National Commission for Scheduled Communities, P. Ramasamy. On September 26, there will be an awareness class on ``Traffic rules and road safety''.
