CHITRADURGA, SEPT. 22. Two persons were burnt to death and one person received severe burn injuries when two trucks collided and caught fire on National Highway 4 in the outskirts of Chitradurga on Wednesday. The deceased have been identified as Mohammed Anwar (50) of Bellur village in Nagamangala taluk of Mandya district and Parasappa (20) of Hullenahalli in Ranebennur taluk of Haveri district. According to the police, one of the trucks was going towards Bangalore from Gadag carrying green gram and the other was going from Bangalore to Hubli carrying liquor bottles.
On the wrong side
The driver of truck carrying liquor bottles was driving on the wrong side of the road and collided with the other truck. The collision resulted in a fire and the cleaner of the truck carrying liquor bottles and the driver of the other truck were burned to death. The driver of the truck carrying liquor bottles escaped with a few injuries and was admitted to a hospital in Chitradurga, the police said.Fire fighters rushed to spot and put out the fire. G.B. Chebbi, Superintendent of Police, G.Nagappa, Additional Superintendent of Police, and other senior officers visited the spot and took stock of the situation.
One dead
In another accident, one person died on the spot and three were injured when their vehicle collided with a truck near Hiriyur on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Krishnappa (30) of Nagenahalli in Hospet taluk of Bellary district. According to the police, the three injured had been shifted to Bangalore for further treatment.
