Core group to deal with landslips

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 22. A core group has been constituted in the Union Home Ministry to chalk out a plan of action to mitigate the impact of landslides, provide advice and guidance to the State Governments on various aspects.

Announcing this here today, the Union Home Minister, Shivraj Patil, said keeping in view the magnitude of the hazard, the Government had decided to designate the Geological Survey of India as the nodal agency that would be responsible for coordinating, undertaking and monitoring landslides and avalanches.
