Ryot ends life

ADILABAD, SEPT. 22. Edolla Ashanna, 40, a cotton farmer of Kajjerla, village in Talamadugu mandal committed suicide on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. According to his family members the farmer had incurred debts of Rs. 40,000 which he had taken from a bank. He committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree branch between Kajjerla and Batti Sawargaon villages. A case was registered.

`Starvation death'

KARIMNAGAR: An agricultural labourer reportedly died of starvation in Maqdhoompur village of Karimnagar mandal last night.

According to villagers, the labourer, D Mallaiah (45), had been unemployed for the past few days and was suffering from some ailment. He reportedly died of starvation. He was unmarried and helping his ailing mother in the village. He had never sought assistance from any person.

With no relatives visiting the village to perform the last rites, the villagers collected donations and performed the last rites. His childhood friend lit the pyre.
