Faizan wins table tennis title

HYDERABAD, SEPT. 22. Faizan warded off a spirited challenge from Ashish Paul 6-11, 11-13, 11-9, 11-9, 11-7, 11-3, 11-6 to clinch the table tennis title in the sixth Annual YMCA Kargil victory sports festival at Hyderabad YMCA here on Wednesday.

The results: Table tennis: Final: Faizan bt Ashish Paul 6-11, 11-13, 11-9, 11-9, 11-7, 11-13, 11-6.

Semifinals: Ashish Paul bt Prithvi 8-11, 11-7, 13-11, 11-9; Faizan bt Datta 11-0, 11-3, 11-5.

Quarterfinals: Datta bt Yash 11-7, 11-9, 11-4; Ashish Paul bt Yashwanth 11-6, 11-9, 14-12; Faizan bt Sojeeth 11-6, 11-7, 11-9; Prithvi bt Anvesh 11-3, 11-4, 11-2.

Kabaddi: Oxford Grammar School bt Gujarathi Vidya Mandir 42-30; Sujatha HS bt St. Andrews HS 30-19; Wesley School, Nacharam bt Sacred Heart School 37-25; St.Martin HS bt Shanti Niketan HS 31-30.

Volleyball: Boys: Brilliant Grammar School bt Little Flower HS 14-16, 15-10, 15-10; Vignan Varsity HS bt St.Augustin HS 15-9, 15-7.
