We are doing our best to telecast series: Dalmiya

KOLKATA, SEPT. 22 . Narrating the events leading up to the court case involving Zee Telefilms and ESPN-Star Sports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India president, Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya, said the ongoing court case was hurting the game in the country and it could possibly deprive millions of cricket lovers from enjoying the upcoming series.

Refusing to be drawn into any comment that could give a hint of the Board's next course of action, Mr. Dalmiya said on Wednesday the Board was making all necessary arrangements for proper coverage of the India-Australia series.

"We are concerned that the game of cricket will suffer owing to lack of coverage. We are making our best possible attempts to telecast the matches so that cricket lovers are not deprived,'' he said.

"Since none of the options were acceptable to the parties, the BCCI was left with two alternatives: either to forgo the series thereby causing prejudice to the game of cricket and the public at large or to plead before the court for permission to invoke the power of cancelling the entire tendering process,'' he explained. — Our Special Correspondent
