KOCHI, SEPT. 22. Even as the CBI Special Judge, B. Kemal Pasha, remanded Peer Mohammed, Director, Doordarshan Kendra, Thiruvananthapuram, to the CBI custody for a day, the court was informed that Mr. Mohammed had allowed "benami transactions of slot-buying lobby" consisting of a few former Doordarshan employees and one of his relatives at the Kendra. In its report seeking remand of the Director, the CBI said that the investigation revealed that he had also allowed "the benami transaction" of one or two employees of the Doordarshan and All India Radio in the names of their spouses in slot-buying for serials. It was also known that those who enjoyed the benefits from the Director used to visit him at his residence. The CBI sought his custody for further investigation. The court ordered that the CBI could keep him in its custody from September 23 at 10. a.m. to September 24. His bail application will be taken up for hearing on September 24. He was arrested by the CBI on charges of accepting bribe from a producer of a Malayalam serial on September 16. The arrest was made on a complaint filed by Ashok Sangeeth, the producer of the serial, `Yathra'.
