Human unity meet ends

NEW DELHI SEPT. 22. The concluding session of "21st International Human Unity Conference" was held at Sant Darshan Singh Ji Dham in Burari here on Monday.

Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj, who presided over the Conference, said: " The experience of God's love is beyond the scope of the intellect and we can gain this through meditation by rising above body-consciousness".

The charter of the Conference to promote brotherhood, solve differences, achieve lasting peace and endorse truthfulness, non-violence, compassion, chastity, purity and selflessness was read out and unanimously adopted by the delegates.

Several saints, gurus and spiritual dignitaries of varied sects from all over the world attended the Conference.

Ashes immersed

NEW DELHI SEPT. 22. Shri Siddhadata Manav Seva Samiti and Sandhya Veer Arjun jointly collected the ashes of 12,684 unclaimed bodies from different crematoria of the Capital and immersed them in the Ganga at Haridwar.

Speaking on the occasion, the SVA Chief Editor, Anil Narendra, said the programme was aimed at giving final solitude to the less privileged people, whose ashes were kept unclaimed at different crematoria of Delhi. "The enthusiasm of people was really encouraging and we will continue this mission," Mr. Narendra added.

The Asthi Kalash Yatra began from the Shaheed Bhagat Singh terminal here and the former Central Minister, Sahib Singh Verma, and the former MP, B.L. Sharma, were present to pay their respect by showering flowers.

International terrorism flayed

NEW DELHI SEPT. 22. The Russian Centre of Science and Culture and Indian Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries jointly organised a function here in the Capital this past Monday to condemn international terrorism and emphasised the need to mobilise all efforts to contain it.

The function was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Russia joining the League of Nations. The programme had a discussion-cum-presentation on the "Role of the United Nations in Fighting Against International Terrorism -- The Main Threat to Global Security in the 21st Century".

The RCSC Director, Sergey P. Vanyukov, said international terrorism was growing by leaps and bounds and this was not just the problem of a single nation but a serious menace to many countries across the world.

Crafts fair organised

NEW DELHI SEPT. 22. Children's Valley School in Preet Vihar organised an art and crafts fair in the school premises earlier this week. The students of Class I to V participated in the fair.

They exhibited their little works of art using recycled materials like ice-cream sticks, matchboxes and tins. The children were assisted by their teachers in making these objects and were also taught the benefits of recycling which would help in keeping the environment clean and pollution-free. The School chairman, Pradeep Jain, the principal, Seema Bhandari, and teachers were present on the occasion.

Sahasranama celebrations

NEW DELHI SEPT. 22. Sri Vishnu Sahasranama Satsangam, Janakpuri, is celebrating its 29th year of formation with a series of programmes from September 25 to October 5 at Sri Datta Vinayakar Mandir, C2B Park, Janakpuri.

The celebrations will begin with Sri Maha Ganapathy Homam on September 25 at 7 a.m. Further details can be had from the Satsangam president, K. Nagarajan, on phone No.25552849.

Swati Thirunal awards

NEW DELHI SEPT. 22. In the first Swati Thirunal kritis competition organised by Gayathri Fine Arts Delhi this past Sunday, college students U. Visweswaran and Rashmi Ramesh were declared the winners of the first prize.

The legendary Maharaja Swati Thirunal of Kerala composed many compositions in praise of Lord Padmanabha and Goddess Shakti.
