Christ College launches two courses

CHRIST COLLEGE has introduced two new courses — a four-semester Master of Social Work (MSW) programme and a four-semester M.S. in Communication. These courses will be available from this academic year. The last date to submit application forms is September 25. The classes will commence on October 4. For more details, call 25536280.

THE BISHOP Cottons Women's Christian College will hold "Disha Enchant 04", its annual fest, on Friday and Saturday on its campus. Here is a list of the variety events and contests lined up to make the fest interactive, fun and a reason to celebrate: The first day's agenda includes contests in Indian Classical Solo (Sa Re Ga Ma), Indian Music (Sur Sangeet), Western Group Dance (Razz Matazz), Rock Show (Rock Amplified) and Indian filmy duet singing (Hum Tum).

The off-stage events of the day include Face Painting (Peinture De Visage), Vegetable Carving (Salad Salsa), Hair Styling (Pinz and Styles), Rangoli (Colour Splash) and Poster-making (Poster Blaster). On Saturday, the fest will feature Street Play (Streetsmart), Western Music (Acousti), Indian Group Dance (Ghungroo), Personality Contest (Persona), Fashion Show (Paparazzi) and Paatukku Pattu. The off-stage events lined up for the day are Flower Arrangement (Blossoms), Pot Painting (Aakrutji), Mehndi (Shagun), Jewellery Designing (Aabhushan) and Sketching & Cartooning (Shades and Toons).

THE GARDEN City College is geared to enter the second phase of its "Gardenia" festival on Friday and Saturday. The two-day event will focus on Information Technology, Hotel Management and Physical Sciences. Students from colleges across the city are expected to take part in the event.

To be inaugurated by former Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Vice-Chancellor, Rajasheakharaiah, the fest will be divided into "IT Gardenia," "Hoteliere Rencontre," "Ganitotsava," "Moments" and "Spectra."

Among the IT events are Coding, Debugging, Networking Games, Quiz and Web Page Designing. The Hotel Management events include front office competitions, House Keeping competitions, Chef competitions for food and beverages, Bakery and Confectionery. The Physical Science competitions will include lecture contests, collage, and puzzle contests. For more details, call

THE ASSOCIATION of Business Executive, United Kingdom, a non-profitable organisation working on British Management Education, has appointed TASMAC as its South Asia branch.

TASMAC will establish and manage ABE centres in the South Asia region comprising of India, Nepal, and Bangladesh. To begin with, ABE will have seven centres in India in Bangalore, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Patiala. TASMAC has plans to increase its number of centres to 30 by the end of 2005. ABE offers certificate, diploma and advanced diploma programmes in Business Administration, Business Information Systems and Travel, Tourism and Hospitality. Students who complete the diploma programmes can the second year of the course while students who have an advanced diploma from ABE can enter the third year of bachelors' qualifications in various universities across the world.

FILM STARS, Sudeep and Ramya, were the guests of "Confluence 2004," the inter-collegiate festival organised by students of the C.B. Bhandari Jain College. Sudeep expressed his happiness to see the convergence of so many talented youngsters in one place and jokingly remarked to cheering young women that they made him nervous. Actress Ramya nostalgically remembered her own days at school when she had to tolerate boring speakers for hours on end.
