SCERT Director resigns
By Our Staff Reporter
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM,
SEPT. 22.
The Director of the Kerala State Council for Educational Research and Training, P.M. Jaleel, has resigned.
It is understood that Mr. Jaleel submitted the resignation letter to the Minister for Education, E.T. Mohammed Basheer, shortly after the Cabinet today decided to remove him from the office. The resignation of Mr. Jaleel comes at a time when the omission of `Gujarat' from the national anthem in some textbooks in the State has created a controversy.
However, Mr. Basheer told The Hindu that the resignation had nothing to do with this controversy.
The Director of the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, K.R. Muraleedharan, will hold additional charge as SCERT chief.
