Rain possible
The maximum and minimum temperature recorded on Wednesday at Safdarjung was 32.4 degrees Celsius and 24.4 degrees Celsius respectively. At Palam, the maximum and minimum temperature recorded was 32.2 degrees Celsius and 24.7 degrees Celsius. Trace rainfall was recorded in Safdarjung. The maximum humidity at Safdarjung and Palam was 80 per cent, while the minimum humidity at Safdarjung and Palam was 61 per cent and 52 per cent respectively.
NDMC drive
According to the police, an Enforcement Department team of the NDMC had today gone to remove encroachment from the public land on Janpath during the day. However, four shopkeepers protested against the removal and did not allow the team to carry out their job. Following a complaint from a NDMC official, a case of obstructing public servant from discharging his duty was registered against the shopkeepers at Connaught Place police station. No arrests have been made. Further investigations in the case are on.
Office-bearers
The new executive committee members are Ram Lal Goyal, K. Rajalakshmi, Mohapatra Kunja Behari, Uday Chandrakant Gadkari and Pranab Kumar Borah. The new officer-bearers have been elected for a three-year term.
Punters held
Acting on a tip-off that some people were running a betting racket from a Shalimar Bagh house, the Crime Branch raided the place and arrested Tajender Singh, Pawan, Pradeep, Kanwaljeet Singh and Arun. They had accepted betting amounts to the tune of Rs. 1.10 lakh. During interrogation, the accused disclosed that Kanwaljeet and Pradeep were the brains behind the racket and the former had rented the house for the purpose. Six mobile phones, voice recorder, television and other gadgets were recovered from the house.
Nabbed
The Special Cell received a tip-off that some criminals would come to Mukarba Chowk on Outer Ring Road in a stolen Toyota Qualis on Sunday. Subsequently, a trap was laid and the vehicle intercepted. The two occupants, who were arrested later, were identified as Sanjay Attree and Raj Kumar. The vehicle was found stolen from Malviya Nagar. At their instance, the police arrested their three accomplices, Sanjay, Ajay and Rakesh, who were also travelling in a Qualis robbed from a person at Udyog Vihar in Gurgaon.
