Opening a session on "Opportunities and Challenges in the Agri Sector" organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mr Sahay elaborated on the initiatives being taken by his ministry to support the food processing industry in Uttaranchal.
He said that his ministry was working on an integrated food law, which would help address many of the issues facing the food processing industry.
Assuring all support to the entrepreneurs coming forward to set up projects in the sector he assured them that his ministry would work towards ensuring disposal of all project applications within 45 days of receiving them.
Replying to questions raised at the session the Minister assured that the food processing projects in the hilly areas would be given priority and facilitated in all aspects.
He also informed that his ministry was working very closely with the State government on the rationalization of sales tax and simplification of mandi tax.
Vibha Puri Das, State Principal Secretary (Horticulture), requested Mr Sahay for more support on the Entrepreneur Development Programmes. Sanjeev Chopra, State Secretary Industrial Development, suggested setting up of an FPO licensing facility in Uttaranchal to facilitate the growth of the food processing industry in the State.
