GUNTUR, SEPT. 24. The Sub-Inspector of police, N.V. Subba Rao (26), of Atchempeta in Guntur district committed suicide by firing two rounds from his service pistol in his police quarters during lunch hour on Friday. The unmarried SI was posted here in the first week of July. He joined duty three days ago after suffering from a bout of typhoid for 20 days. At 1.10 p.m. two rounds of fire was heard in the police quarters and when policemen rushed he was found in a pool of blood. His mother, who was here for a fortnight to look after him during his illness, left for Yellalacheruvu in Prakasam district on Thursday evening. The Superintendent of Police, Jitender, in a release said Rao left a suicide note in which he did not hold anyone responsible for his suicide.
