TUMKUR, SEPT. 24. The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) is poised to enrol over 1 lakh workers as members in the State, its national president, M.K. Pandhe, said on Friday. He was inaugurating a three-day study camp for trade union leaders at Devarayan Durga, near here. Mr. Pandhe said a strong CITU unit in the State would boost economic growth. Study camps were being held at State and district levels as a part of the celebration of birth centenary of CITU founder, Balachandra Tryambaka Ranadive, who believed that ideological development among trade union leaders was the key to the success of labour movement.
V.J.K. Nair, national vice-president of CITU, said a large population never blocked economic progress.
