Mohun Bagan in last four

KOLKATA, SEPT. 24. Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan AC with better goal difference confirmed semifinal berths in the Income Tax SRC sponsored inaugural Krishanu Dey Memorial junior (under-19) league here on Friday. With East Bengal and Ever-Ready Association already booking berths in the last four stage topping group A and B respectively, Bagan and Mohammedan AC filled up the remaining two slots.

The latter two sides, however, were hardly convincing in their concluding group league matches as Mohun Bagan played a goalless draw against Ever-Ready while Mohammedan AC lost 0-1 to East Bengal. The final standings had Mohammedan AC tying with Tollygunge Agragami, which beat Wari AC 3-0, for the second spot with four points each in group A. But the former moved up for having conceded less goals in the league stage.

Bagan too faced a similar situation in group B as it found itself locked on four points with Eastern Railway, which also drew goalless its last match against Mohammedan Sporting. — Our Sports Reporter
