Vishwa Karma community told to strive for progress

SHIMOGA, SEPT. 25. The Shimoga MP and former Chief Minister, S. Bangarappa, said here on Saturday that the Vishwa Karma community should strive for greater progress by adapting itself to the emerging socio-economic changes.

Inaugurating a procession as part of the State-level conference of the Akhil Karnataka Vishwa Karma Mahasammelan, he said that he had sanctioned Rs. 1 lakh from the MP's Local Area Development Scheme for the construction of a hall for the community. He promised that he would sanction more funds for such schemes formulated by the community. Members of the community marched to the Deputy Commissioner's office and submitted a memorandum to the authorities there urging the State Government to consider their demands.

Vishwa Karma Jagadguru Sri Gurushiva Sugyana Murthy Mahaswamiji of Vishwa Karma Moolanmath; Sri Gurunath Mahaswamiji of Ekadandagi Math; Sri Siddhanagalinga Mahaswamiji of Siddappaji Math; Sri Shankaracharya Mahaswamiji of Belaguru Kashi Math; Sri Kalahasti Mahaswamiji of Belagutti Math; Sri Eshwara Swamiji of Anataravalli Math, the vice-president of the conference organising committee, D. Satyanarayana; the vice-president of the women's wing, Yashoda Nagaraj; the Hosanagar MLA, Hartalu Halappa; and the President of the district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Bhanu Prakash, were present. The conference was held at the Science Field in the evening.
