CPI (M) announces candidates for 16 seats in Maharashtra
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI,
SEPT. 25.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) today released the list of candidates for the 16 seats it was contesting for the October 13 Assembly elections. These include the two seats held by it in Jawhar and Surgana.
Earlier, the Congress had left four seats for the Left parties including the two won by the CPI (M) in the last elections. However, with this announcement the arrangement had virtually ended barring "friendly contests''.
The party has fielded Rajaram Ozare from the Jawhar (ST) seat, which it bagged last time defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party. In Surgana (ST), it has re-nominated Pandu Gavit Jiva, who won the 1999 polls defeating the NCP.
