Even as the number of participants in adventure camps organised by the Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI) is increasing, the association is holding a programme to train people how to live in high-altitude camps. The three-day training programme is on in Mysore from Friday for camp leaders from the southern region to expose them to various facets of camp management. The programme assumes importance in the light of the increased presence of adventure enthusiasts from the South in various adventure camps organised by the YHAI.
Increasing participation
Speaking to presspersons here today, R.G. Padki, a founder member of the YHAI, said such a training programme had been necessitated by the increasing number of participants in high-altitude camps. Similar programmes were being conducted in other regions also, he added. He said participants from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Pondicherry, Kerala, and Karnataka were taking part in the three-day programme.
