BJP expels 4 rebel candidates

MUMBAI,
SEPT. 25
. The Bharatiya Janata Party today expelled four rebels who had filed their nominations as independents, including two sitting MLAs.
Gopinath Munde, State BJP president, told reporters that Hemendra Mehta, MLA from Borivli, Kisan Kale, MLA from Sillod, and two former MLAs, Narsingh Mengji from Solapur and Lakhan Malik from Washim were expelled from the party for six years. All four had been denied tickets to the coming Assembly elections.
The BJP also announced its support for five independent candidates in Karvir, Sironcha, Osmanabad, Kej and an NCP rebel candidate, Ramesh Thorat, from Daund. Four rebel candidates also withdrew their nominations.
