THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT. 25. A 23-year-old engineer trainee, Deepak Kumar Nayak of the Tata Consultancy Services at the Technopark here, was missing after he was caught in swirling currents near the Meenmutty waterfalls at Kallar in the Vithura police station limits today. The police said that Deepak, a native of Bhubaneswar in Orissa, along with three others were caught in the current while they were bathing. Three others, including a woman, Manisha, hailing from Delhi, were rescued by the lifeguards present near the waterfalls. The lifeguards and the personnel of the Fire and Rescue Services were pressed into service to locate Deepak. The police said the search operations had to be stopped due to inclement weather.
