JAC submits memo against V-C

By Our Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM, SEPT. 25. The Joint Action Committee for Protection of Andhra University has requested the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to constitute an inquiry committee into the allegations against the Vice-Chancellor, Y.C. Simhadri, without delay.

In a memorandum submitted to Dr. Reddy during his brief tour here on Saturday, the JAC's convener, S. Surappadu, alleged that Prof. Simhadri was taking advantage of the delay in constituting the inquiry committee by luring teachers by conducting the Career Advancement Scheme interviews and giving undeserving promotions to non-teaching staff.

Prof. Surappadu also alleged that "police Raj'' was prevailing on the campus and students and JAC members were lathicharged on September 16 when they tried to hand over a memorandum to the AU administration.
