Rain likely

Forecast: One or two spells of rain or thundershowers. At Waltair, the maximum temperature was 32 degree Celsius and the minimum was 25.9 degree Celsius respectively on Saturday. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 75 per cent and at 5.30 p.m was 73 per cent. Rainfall up to 8.30 p.m. was traced.

At Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 31.6 degree Celsius and 26.6 degree Celsius respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 70 per cent and at 8.30 p.m. was 75 per cent. Rainfall up to 8.30 p.m. was 23.0 mm.

The maximum and minimum temperature at the Dolphin's Nose were 31.1 degree Celsius and 23.4 degree Celsius respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 80 per cent.

Utkal Samaj

The Utkal Sanskrutika Samaj has set up a guest house in Dasapalla Hills Layout, for the benefit of visitors from Orissa. It will be inaugurated on Sunday by the Chief Commissioner of Income-Tax, V.S. Wahi.

Medical camp

To mark the National Service Scheme Day, the Pydah College for Women organised a medical camp and a blood donation camp at the college premises on Friday. Students of the college educated slum dwellers about the symptoms of malaria and tuberculosis. They also took part in the blood donation camp in the AU Arts College.

The NSS Unit of St. Joseph's College for Women (autonomous) distributed 100 kg. of rice and five boxes of clothes to the 125 inmates of the Nirmal Hriday home for destitutes at Gnanapuram. The rice and clothes were purchased by pooling up students' contributions, according to the NSS programme officer, K. Manikya Kumari.

A.T.S. Rajasekhar has been nominated president of the city unit of the Rashtriya Janata Dal by the party convener for Uttarandhra, M. Sominaidu.

Daspalla

The management and staff of the Daspalla Group have donated Rs. 38,700 to the Care Foundation for treatment of children suffering from heart diseases. The amount was handed over to the Care Hospital chairman, Somaraju, here on Saturday by the hotel general manager, S. Prasanth.
