KUMARAKOM, SEPT. 26. The Bandula team, represented by Sri Lankan internationals D.P. Senaweera, K.P. Bhaskaran, Asantha de Mel, H.H.J. Keerthisena and Anton Selvanayakam, won the team of four duplicate title in the Sethubhandanam bridge tournament which concluded at the Kottayam Club annexe here on Sunday afternoon. Remun (Tamil Nadu) and Triplex (Kerala) finished second and third respectively in the 12-team round-robin league event. The three Sri Lankan teams, with an average of 185 Victory Points, also lifted the overall team title in the three-day event. Tamil Nadu (171) and Kerala (159) won the next two positions. Twelve teams three each from Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu and six from Kerala figured in the tournament. The Sri Lankan pair of H.H.J. Kirthiseena and Anton Selvanayakam (152 VPs) bagged the master pairs title with Tamil Nadu's R.V. Subramaniam and S. Vijayaraghavan finishing runner-up. Asantha de Mel, a former Test bowler and Sri Lankan cricket's current chairman of selectors, and K.P. Bhaskaran were third. The Kerala Bridge Association president K. Vijayan gave away the prizes.

Vijayaraghavan, Kalyani Easwaran, Sherin Ryan, 192 VP), 3. Triplex Kerala (Shaju V. Mathew, Shajan Thomas, Captain Paul, Prof. Easwar Mohan, J. Joseph, 186 VP).
Overall team championship: 1. Sri Lanka (average of 185 VPs), 2. TN (171 VPs), 3. Kerala (159 VPs).
