PONDICHERRY, SEPT. 26. The Excise department's flying squad arrested two persons belonging to Madukkarai near Pondicherry last night and seized 800 litres of rectified spirit worth Rs. 1.25 lakhs. The rectified spirit in 23 plastic containers was allegedly smuggled from Tamil Nadu. A team on a routine night patrol spotted the plastic cans at a vacant site and two persons who were standing guard at the site were arrested, according to the Deputy Excise Commissioner, R. Anbalagan.
