NEW DELHI, SEPT. 26 . All problems of infertility found in men are now curable and pollution and stress are aiding the rise in the rate of growth of infertility in the country, according to medical-experts. Also, impotency and infertility in men should not be clubbed as both are terminally different, said doctors and experts at a interactive discussion on `Sex, Sexuality and Male Infertility' in the Capital last evening. Dr. K.K. Aggarwal, president of the Care Foundation of India, said some of the basic misconcepts regarding infertility needed to be clarified as several people show no inclination to go for any cure due to lack of knowledge. ``Though male infertility in India is on an increase and there has been a general reduction in sperm count here due to stress and rising pollution, the malady was not without cure. In fact, with proper care and attention every type of infertility among men is curable now,'' he said. Another revelation made by experts was that 50 per cent of total infertility found in India was in men, which was earlier thought to be a negligible percentage of the entire phenomenon. ``The saddest part is that the malady is increasing by the day, they said. Eminent andrologist Dr Rupin Shah said impotence and infertility should not be interlinked. ``Male infertility and erectile dysfunction are two different things. A person with erectile dysfunction is fully capable of producing a child while an infertile man could easily have a proper erection.'' Instead of living in ignorance and cursing one self, people must get a proper check-up to know the real cause of infertility, he added. -- UNI
