ANANTAPUR, SEPT. 26. The district unit of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has asked the Congress to stop playing "hide and seek" on the political killings in the district and order a probe to reveal the truth.
CLP allegation
The TDP district president, V. Hanumantharaya Chowdary, the general secretary and ex-MP, B. K. Parthasarathi, the former MP, K. Srinivasulu, the former legislator, P. Raghunatha Reddy, and others were responding to the allegations made by the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) members at Hyderabad yesterday. Talking to reporters here today they came down heavily on the State Government for its "irresponsible attitude" on the killings.
In Paritala's defence
On the CLP members' charge that the TDP legislator, Paritala Ravindra, was involved in the suspicious death of former legislator, N. Gadi Lingappa, and the murder of another former MLA, S.V. Ramana Reddy, the TDP leaders said the Congress was in power and it had all the means to institute an inquiry into both the cases. The leaders reminded that it was the previous TDP Government, which had recommended a CBI probe into the suspicious death of Gadi Lingappa. But, the present Government had forgotten to pursue the matter. The TDP would welcome if the Government responded with a probe, they said.
YSR's promise
They also suggested that the daughter of Gadi Lingappa and Congress legislator, N. Neelavati, should press for a probe into her father's death instead of making wild charges. They also reminded that Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had promised completing a probe into the case within 100 days of his party coming to power.
