Pondy Congressmen to take out cycle rally

PONDICHERRY, SEPT. 26. The Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy, his ministerial colleagues, the Pradesh Congress Committee president, party legislators will address street corner meetings and the functionaries will take out a cycle rally on October 15 to highlight the achievements of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre.

According to a release from the Pondicherry unit chief, V. Narayanasamy, the Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, the desalination programme to solve the drinking water problem in Chennai, declaration of Tamil as a classical language and sanctioning of funds for the Sethusamudram Canal project were some of the decisions taken by the Centre since it assumed office.

Membership enrolment

The All-India Congress Committee secretary, K.B. Krishnamoorthy, would camp here on October 3 to supervise membership enrolment.

Mr. Narayanasamy said the committee had received communication from the AICC on enrolment and the process would be completed on November 15.
