KOCHI, SEPT. 26. The Kerala State Women's Commission will visit on Monday the workers of the Missionaries of Charity who were injured in an attack at Olavanna in Kozhikode on Saturday. The commission chairperson, M. Kamalam, and the members, P. Kulsu and Lissy Jose, will be part of the team, said Ms. Jose.
`Bid to silence nuns'
Our Staff Reporter writes from Kozhikode: The State secretary of All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA), P.K. Sreemathi, today said that some people had tried to force the nuns who had been attacked to give it in writing that they had no complaints on the incident. She demanded an investigation into the incident. Ms. Sreemathi said the incident showed that Uma Bharati's disciples had started their functioning in Kerala. She blamed the indifference on the part of the police for the second attack on nuns here on Saturday. The AIDWA will hold a dharna before the office of the City Police Commissioner's office here on September 28, Ms. Sreemathi said. The AIDWA State joint secretary, P. Sathidevi, and A.K. Premajam, former MP, were also present.
Hindu bodies' protest
Meanwhile, a joint meeting of Hindu organisations here today decided to hold a march to the City Police Commissioner's office here on Monday to protest against what they termed as arrest of "innocent" RSS-BJP leaders and workers in connection with the attack on nuns and brothers at Pantheerankavu, near here, on Saturday.
