Mainly clear sky forecast

NEW DELHI SEPT. 26. The weatherman has forecast a mainly clear sky for Delhi on Monday morning. The sky is likely to get partly cloudy towards afternoon/evening.

On Sunday, both Safdarjung and Palam recorded a maximum temperature of 36.1 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperatures at Safdarjung and Palam were 22.2 degrees and 21.8 degrees Celsius respectively.

Safdarjung and Palam recorded a maximum humidity of 84 and 35 per cent while the minimum humidity was 78 and 37 per cent respectively.

Security guard murdered

NEW DELHI SEPT. 26. A security guard allegedly killed his fellow security guard at Kanchanjunga building at Connaught Place in New Delhi on Saturday.

The incident occurred late at night when the security guard, Ranjeet, entered into an altercation with his colleague, Umesh, over some matter. An enraged Umesh went to the pantry, returned with a knife and stabbed Ranjeet. He was rushed to hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

A murder case has been registered at Connaught Place police station and efforts are on to nab Umesh.

Betting racket

NEW DELHI SEPT. 26. Three persons, who were allegedly running a betting racket on the ICC Champions Trophy final match between England and West Indies, were arrested from Farsh Bazar in East Delhi on Saturday. Mobile phones and other gadgets were recovered from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off that some people were running a betting racket from a house at Farsh Bazar, the police mounted a raid and arrested three of them. They were identified as Ramrich Pal, Ram Kapoor and Vijay. The police recovered from them seven mobile phones, a computer and a voice recorder along with a register that showed that they had accepted betting amount to the tune of Rs. 7 lakhs.

Four arrested

NEW DELHI SEPT. 26. Four persons allegedly moving around in a stolen car were arrested from Timarpur in North Delhi on Saturday. A country-made firearm and five live cartridges were recovered from their possession.

The accused were identified as Sunil, Neeraj, Prakash Yadav and Pramod. During interrogation, they told the police that they used to steal vehicles using master keys. At their instance, three more stolen motorcycles were recovered. The Maruti car in which they were travelling was stolen from Naraina. Further investigations are on.

Ganja seized

NEW DELHI SEPT. 26. A man allegedly trying to deliver a huge consignment of ganja was arrested from Timarpur in North Delhi on Saturday.

The accused, Sushil Agnihotri, was arrested when he was waiting for his client, Gopal Mandal, to hand over 114 kg of ganja packed in four cartons to him. During interrogation, he disclosed that he had brought the consignment from Assam. The police have launched a hunt for the other accused, Gopal.
