KOZHIKODE, SEPT. 27. Doctors under the aegis of the Kerala Government Medical Officers Associations (KGMOA) have decided to resume out-patient treatment at the Thalakkulathur community health centre (CHC) from September 28. The decision was taken at a meeting presided over by the District Collector, Rachna Shah, with office-bearers of the district unit of the KGMOA here today. The District Collector had given an assurance that no disciplinary action would be taken against Roopa Ratheesh, the regular doctor at the CHC who had gone on leave. The District Medical Officer was asked to sanction leave for Dr. Roopa. Government doctors have been boycotting the CHC at Thalakulathur since September 17, after a doctor there, Philomina Vijayan, had taken ill allegedly due to the poor working conditions at the CHC, and died following a cardiac arrest and cerebral haemorrhage at a private hospital here on September 21.
