KOHIMA, SEPT. 27. The Election Commission has appointed three observers for the October 13 by-poll to the three Assembly constituencies in Nagaland. Sudhir Mittal, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, has been appointed observer for the Tenning constituency in Peren district, while J.S. Rathod, Deputy Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Gujarat, is the observer for the Tehok seat in Mon district, Election Commission sources said. M.I. Patadia, Joint Secretary in the Department of Labour Employment, Gujarat, has been appointed observer for the Aonglenden segment in Mokokchung district, where the Congress has fielded the Goa Governor, S.C. Jamir's son and former Rajya Sabha member, Apok Jamir, against the ruling alliance candidate, Alempokba of the Nagaland People's Front (NPF). Aonglenden will witness a standoff between the ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland and the opposition Congress, while a triangular contest between the Congress, NPF and BJP will take place in Tenning and Tehok. Electioneering is yet to gain momentum in these three constituencies. PTI
